Frequently Asked Questions

I offer therapy sessions both in-person and online. That means you can get the support you need from wherever you feel most comfortable. Let’s chat about what would work best for you!

Taking the first step towards therapy is a big deal. It’s a brave choice that shows you’re committed to your well-being.Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, lost, or just ready for a change. Therapy is a safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. Together, we can work through challenges, explore your past, build resilience, and discover how we can create peace in your life.

My cancellation policy requires at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. This allows me to offer the time slot to someone else who may need it. If cancellations are made with less than 24 hours’ notice, a cancellation fee may apply.

The cost of our first session together is $115, and follow-up sessions are $90. I understand that therapy can be an investment, so I’ve set aside a limited number of spots for clients facing financial challenges. Let’s talk about what might work best for you.

Each session is about 55 minutes.

I typically start with a phone consultation to gather some basic information and ensure we’re a good fit for each other. You’re welcome to call, text, or email me to schedule an appointment. I find that setting up recurring appointments on the same day and time each week tends to work best for everyone’s busy schedules. Consistency in counseling is important—it helps reinforce what we work on together, making it easier to apply in your daily life.

I understand that fitting therapy into a busy schedule can be tough. While I don’t offer weekend appointments, I do offer evening sessions to hopefully work around your day. Let’s find a time that works best for you! If you need to see me urgently, please don’t hesitate to reach out. But if you’re facing a crisis, it’s important to get help right away. Please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Your safety is my top priority. If you just need to squeeze in an appointment, shoot me a text or email – I’ll do my best to accommodate you.

I specialize in working with individuals aged 14 and up. If you’re looking for support for someone younger, I completely understand. I’m happy to help you find the right therapist for your child or teen.

Absolutely. I welcome and support LGBTQIA+ individuals in my practice. My goal is to provide a safe, inclusive space where you can feel understood and respected.

No, your spouse or partner does not need to come with you. For many, therapy is a personal journey designed to address unique needs and goals. While involving your partner in some cases can be beneficial, it’s ultimately your decision whether or not to include them in your sessions.

Every young person’s therapy journey is unique. To create a safe space for open and honest conversations, I typically focus on one-on-one sessions with the minor. This helps build trust and independence. Of course, your involvement is crucial! Your support and encouragement outside of therapy sessions often lead to much greater success long term. We’ll partner with you to help your child reach their goals. And rest assured, if there’s ever a safety concern, I will immediately address it with you.

Therapy is a personal experience, and what works for one person might not work for another. We’ll create a plan together that fits your needs. Typically, people start with weekly or bi-weekly sessions, but that can change as you progress. My goal is to help you reach your goals by going at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

What you share in therapy is completely confidential. It’s my job to create a safe space where you can be open and honest. The only exception is if you mention a plan to harm yourself or someone else. In that case, I have a duty to reach out for help.

Trauma is a distressing or disturbing experience or set of experiences that overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope. It can be caused by a single event or ongoing events. Everyone reacts differently to trauma, but it can have a significant impact on mental, emotional, and physical well-being. I specialize in helping individuals heal from the wounds of trauma. If you’re struggling with the effects of past experiences, I offer a compassionate and evidence-based approach to healing.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It’s a therapy technique that helps people heal from the emotional distress caused by traumatic life experiences. By focusing on the traumatic memory while following a specific eye movement, audio, or tactile pattern, the brain can process and heal from the event. EMDR is particularly effective for treating conditions like Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This technique has shown success in helping individuals reduce symptoms from traumas of various types.

I’m lucky enough to share my life with my husband, our son, and our two cats and two dogs. I love to recharge by reading (big SJM fan), connecting with loved ones, exploring new ideas through podcasts, or getting a good workout in.
